History

        Founded in 1990, Brightwaters Instrument Corporation designs and manufactures custom and semicustom scientific and oceanographic equipment, as well as providing OEM design services. Our customers include government, academia, and the private sector. Brightwaters Instrument Corporation is a privately-held "S" corporation, incorporated in the State of New York.

        Mr. Wilson holds Bachelor of Science Degrees in Biology and Chemistry from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg Virginia and a Master of Science Degree in Marine Environmental Sciences from the State University of New York. Since 1983, Mr. Wilson has directed the Instrument Laboratory at the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (formerly the Marine Sciences Research Center), State University of New York at Stony Brook. In 1990, he founded the Brightwaters Instrument Corporation to provide additional opportunities to contribute to the field of oceanographic equipment design.
        Mr. Wilson's design credits include over 40 major items of scientific and oceanographic equipment. He has provided technical support to over 175 research projects at numerous institutions in the US and abroad, including at-sea experience on 11 major research cruises in the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Mediterranean.
         Mr. Wilson is a member of the Marine Technology Society, a founding member of the Research Vessel Technical Enhancement Committee of UNOLS, and a member of the Organizing and Technical Committees for the Current Measurement Technology Conference of the IEEE.

         Mr. Salamon accepted the position of Vice President of Brightwaters Instrument in 1999 after serving as a consultant to the company on several occasions since 1993. Mr. Salamon has over 25 years of experience in a variety of technical and engineering fields. He has worked for three different firms as a design engineer and field service supervisor for fire alarm and HVAC control systems for high rise buildings, culminating as a Designer and Project Manager for Trane Building Automation Systems Division in New York City. He has served as a consultant to high tech start-ups in the fields of mechanical design and production optimization. Mr. Salamon attended Southampton College of Long Island University.
